My Math Story

In grade school I would get in trouble for being talkative/distracting after finishing my work so I began doing my sibling's math problems to challenge myself and stay occupied.

I originally wanted to study Aerospace Engineering, but after transferring, the application process for the major was poorly explained and I chose mathematics as it has broad applications and usage. Additionally, meeting Professor John Johnson was instrumental in completing my degree despite wanting to give up at various points.

I landed my first job because I had a math background, though they were looking more for a finance person. I eventually joined the Biomedical Engineering PhD program and having my math training covered part of not being a formal engineer and has also been helpful through various parts of life in a research lab.

Completing undergrad despite dealing with many personal issues and learning to believe in myself again to take the chance to apply to graduate school and now be a semester from completing my PhD.
