Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

My Math Story

My geometry class where I had to prove that triangles were similar and then use that information to calculate values of angles and sides. I remember those (trivial now) problems where triangles are organized in a way that makes the similarity slightly non-obvious. Somehow, putting these things together kickstarted my interest in mathematical sciences and not just as an educational necessity.

I think my degree and my specific experience in my math courses gave me the confidence that I could learn anything with the right dedication. The skills and "tricks" I've learned have significantly helped me pursue my interest in machine learning and coding in general. I am still greatly interested in solving challenging problems with the Computer Science applications of mathematics.

I presented at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum in college. Currently, my proudest accomplishment is that I have contributed a Python package that some data scientists around the world are using.
